Year 2-6 Lesson Plans
Children will continue to work towards basic computer skills whilst learning to develop more advance skills such as story making using a piece of software called storybook weaver. Touch typing will be introduced at a basic level teaching children the home row of the keyboard using Mario teaches typing. Children will continue to use lots of the problem solving software including Professor Roberts, Adventues of the lost Tomb, Sims Park.
Children will continue developing their touch typing skills using Jump ahead typing. All students will produce a poster of their choice using Microsoft which will go towards their Microsoft word certificates. We will also be using digital movie maker to help develop film making skills. Children will also have a chance to use their favourite pieces of software.
Children will be introduced to Typing instructor deluxe to improve their typing skills. All pupils will be working towards their Microsoft Excel certificates. To achieve this certificate children will need to be able to complete 25 Excel tasks.Pupils will be taught how to email and browse the internet safely and confidently.
Children will work at the competition level of Jump ahead typing, where they can earn virtual medals which will encourage accurate and fast typing. All pupils will be working towards their Microsoft Powerpoint certificates. To achieve this certificate children will be required to produce a presentation of their choice using various tasks. Probot cars will be used throughout the term, helping children to understand how to programme robotic toys.
Children will be working towards their Microsoft Publisher certificates. To achieve this certificate children will need to produce several pieces of work using Microsoft Publisher. Garfields Typing will be introduced to help children develop speed and accuracy. We will be taking computers apart computers and identifying componets and learning their use.
As well as the above children will also have a chance to use their favourite pieces of software. Please see the column opposite for software descriptions.
